Burnsea men's “Onyx” EVA thongs are high-quality footwear crafted for comfort, support, style, and durability. They are super comfy, flexible, shock-absorbing, strong and durable and gently conform to the natural contour of your feet. The "Onyx" consists of four components: a fabric toe strap, a polyurethane upper, an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole, and a sole made from a blend of rubber and EVA. These materials work together to provide an exceptional wearing experience, and all four materials help shape the Burnsea "Onyx" thong into what it is today. The Components
The Upper - Polyurethane
The polyurethane upper is highly tear resistant and stretches much more easily than rubber/plastic. It allows for a more flexible upper that will adapt to the movement of your feet. Rigid materials cause pain in your feet because they do not allow your feet to move naturally. Polyurethane is also highly resistant to things such as sweat, saltwater, and sun damage, and often outperforms rubber in these harsh conditions. However, it's still important to care for your thongs by keeping them out of direct sunlight and rinsing off any saltwater.
The EVA Midsole
Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) is a closed-cell foam that contains millions of microscopic air bubbles trapped within its polymer structure. When pressure is applied to the EVA, the air bubbles compress but bounce back to their original shape when the pressure is released. Basically, EVA acts as a cushioning shock absorber between your feet and the ground, providing comfort. EVA can be produced in different densities to provide varying levels of softness. Each time your foot strikes the ground, the EVA midsole compresses and absorbs the impact, which allows your body to exert less energy while walking, resulting in reduced foot fatigue.
The Toe Strap
A common issue with thongs is the rubbing friction that can occur between your toes. To address this problem, we designed the "Onyx" toe strap using soft fabric. A material which helps reduce friction between your toes while walking and distributes your weight evenly. In addition to providing comfort, the fabric toe strap also adds a stylish touch.
